Mount Redoubt Erupted!

Mt Redoubt
An erupting Mount Redoubt exploded again at 4:31 this morning -- its fifth and strongest discharge yet -- sending an ash cloud to new heights, the Alaska Volcano Observatory reported. Ash has now been detected at 60,000 feet above sea level, the National Weather Service reported.
Mid-level winds are still carrying the ash plume north over the Susitna Valley, and minor ash fall has been reported in Skwentna, Willow, Trapper Creek and Talkeetna, according to the Weather Service, the Matanuska-Susitna Borough and eyewitness reports.
High-elevation winds above 40,000 feet are beginning to veer toward Anchorage, but no ash is expected to fall on Alaska's largest city at this time, Bob Hopkins, the meteorologist-in-charge of the National Weather Service office in Anchorage said.

So, here in Wasilla, we are not receiving any ash. You can't even tell the volcano blew. Mt. Redoubt is about 145 miles from Wasilla.

Mt St. Helens

Mt. St. Helens was more active then this. With Mt St. Helen, I was in Stake Conference and by the time we left, there was ash all over the cars. We had neighbors out hosing off all the cars for us. For days you had to stay indoors and if you went out you had to wear a mask and also change your car filter often.
Mt St. Helens is 53 miles northeast of Portland, Oregon.

A Miracle we received

Well the story goes like this. We have an used, older van and car. The van David drove and the beat-up car I drove. They were good for their purpose and took us where we needed to go. The van started giving David a lot of problems and finally he couldn't drive it anymore and so their went my car, as David needed to use it to go to work. We knew the car would not last long also. We decided it was time to start looking for a new car for ME, as David would use the old car and fix the van, then sell the old car. We have been looking and nothing was looking good. Finally two weeks ago I saw a car on a web page. I told David about it as I felt it was our car. He told me that car (Ford Cobalt) was way too small for us. Last Saturday he came home and I told him I still wanted to look at that car as I felt really good about it. We went to the dealership and saw the car. I noticed the car was a lot smaller than I thought. There would be no way we could survive in that car. A salesman (we call them Vultures, no offence to those anyone who is a salesman) came up and started talking to David. He showed us two other cars. I looked at them and thought they look promising. I asked if I could test drive them. I figured might as well have fun since I was here. We test drove the first one...Malibu Maxx. As soon as we got in the car, the KIDS fell in love with it. We then test drove the other one and straight away the kids hated it. Now let me tell you why. No perks in the last one, where as the first one had lots of perks. I also liked the first as (Sara get this) it had a "butt" warmer!! We then talked with the salesman and an hour or so later we were driving out of the parking lot with a new car (OK used, yet new to us). We knew this car was ours. We were shocked, as we did not even think we would be buying a car that day. It was a wonderful miracle. Our Heavenly Father gave us such a wonderful blessing.

Febuary's Craft Project

Here we have a Home EC. project going on. For Christmas the kids had a craft project they could make once a month until we went on vacation. This last month was "Crayon Roll-ups". They picked their own material and had fun making them. Even Eilish was able to do quite a bit. Stay tune for March's craft project.

A stranger in my bed

One night I was going to bed and this is what I found. I couldn't believe it. What was she thinking when she went to sleep? Oh, maybe she read somewhere that your feet need to be elevated past the heart. What do you think? She was shocked the next morning when I showed her these.

Eilish

Eilish wanted me to put these pictures on the blog. She was working to earn money and wanted me to take a picture of her sweeping. So, this is Eilish sweeping. I think she did a better job then her older brothers.
Here she is vaccuming. She is not getting money for this as it is one of her daily chores. If only she would of folded the laundry in the background. No such luck!!
Eilish wanted this posted also. For school one day she had to read this worksheet. So, she wanted everyone to know she read this. She is doing well in reading.

Allen went Home!

Just wanted to update you all on Allen and from me, to Thank you for your prayers. I know his family really appreciates it.
This is from his family...

I am sad and heartbroken to say that Allen Passed away at 8:00 am this morning. He is now cancer free and no longer suffering and is pain free. He has been reunited with his sister and some of his grandparents. He fought a hard fight and a long one. He is the bravest and toughest person we have ever known and will ever know. He fought to the end waiting for Susan and I to close our eyes for alittle rest and he went to his Heavenly Father. We want to thank each and everyone of you for your support and love you have shown us throughout our battle. Have Faith Hope and Love. Thank you again.
We Love You Love The Woellmer's

Allen will truly be missed by all.

New Pledge of Allegiance!

New Pledge of Allegiance (TOTALLY AWESOME)!
Since the Pledge of AllegianceAnd The Lord's PrayerAre not allowed in mostPublic schools anymoreBecause the word 'God' is mentioned....
A kid in Arizona wrote the attached

NEW School prayer :

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,God's name is prohibited by the state.
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks..
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess..
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen

Prayer List

Please take a look on the right hand side, at our Prayer List. These people need our prayers badly. Some of them I know and others have been added on per request from someone else. There are so many people who need our prayers and the more we can pray for them the better we are. I know for myself, there is so many things I can't do because of kids at home, financial situation, car situation, etc, yet I can pray. Prayer is a powerful tool and we need to use it more. Take a look and offer up a pray and if you have anyone you know who could use our prayers, I would be happy to add their name to our list.
Thank you so much. You will be blessed for thinking of others.

The Wisdom of Solomon Lives again!

I love this! How true it is!

A worried woman went to her gynecologist and said: 'Doctor, I havea serious problem and desperately need your help! My baby is not even 1 yr.old and I'm pregnant again. I don't want kids so close together.' So the doctor said: 'Ok, and what do you want me to do?' She said: 'I want you to end my pregnancy, and I'm counting on your help with this.' The doctor thought for a little, and after some silence he said to the lady: 'I think I have a better solution for your problem. It's less dangerous for you too.' She smiled, thinking that the doctor was going to accept her request. Then he continued: 'You see, in order for you not to have to take care of 2 babies at the same time, let's kill the one in your arms. This way, you could rest some before the other one is born. If we're going to kill one of them, it doesn't matter which one it is. There would be no risk for your body if you chose the one in your arms. The lady was horrified and said:'No, doctor! How terrible! It's a crime to kill a child!' 'I agree', the doctor replied. 'But you seemed to be ok with it, so I thought maybe that was the best solution.' The doctor smiled, "there is no difference in killing a child that's already been born and one that's still in the womb. The crime is the same!"(Sounds somewhat like the wisdom of Solomon; remember the suggestion of cutting the baby in half?)
